DJB
Consulting Services was started by president David J. Biemesderfer
in December 2004. Biemesderfer has more than 20
years of experience in all areas of strategic communications, with
expertise in communications planning, marketing, media relations, publications
management, online communications, research
and public policy. Biemesderfer's
in-depth
understanding of philanthropy comes from more than a decade of
experience in the
field, with specialized expertise in philanthropic associations and
networks. He led the communications program at the Minnesota
Council on Foundations from 1994 through 2004, when he left his
position as Vice President of Communications and
Information Services to establish DJB Consulting Services. While at
the Council, Biemesderfer
developed and greatly expanded a strategic
communications program that gained local and national recognition,
while also managing the Council's nationally recognized government
relations, research and information services functions. Nationally,
Biemesderfer's leadership in philanthropy has included serving as a board
member and communications committee chair for the Forum of Regional
Associations of Grantmakers in Washington, D.C.; and as a member of
the national steering committee of the Forum's New Ventures in
Philanthropy initiative. Biemesderfer also served as editor of the Grantmaker
Communications Manual, published by the Council on Foundations in
Washington, D.C. He is an Inaugural Member of the National
Network of Consultants to Grantmakers. Biemesderfer
has a B.A. in communications from Gustavus Adolphus College and an
M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
